- Fire Class F (in the US -> K): Fires involving cooking oils or fats in frying or fat baking appliances, or other kitchen appliances or equipment

How effective are Element fire extinguishers for fires involving batteries? If the fire originates from a short circuit outside the battery, then it's fine. Element fire extinguishers cover that. But if the battery has transitioned into a fusion state (Class D fire), meaning the temperature inside has risen up to 600°C, then even an Element fire extinguisher is ineffective. The lithium-ion battery in a molten state also generates its own oxygen, making this type of fire extremely difficult to handle. In fact, there are currently no real solutions. The protocol for the fire department is to submerge the vehicle in a dunk tank for 48 hours (oxygen is still generated for more than 30 hours). All fire extinguisher manufacturers are working on finding a solution.How long is the fire extinguisher usable, and is there an expiration label?
There is no expiration label, only the transport packaging has a label indicating the manufacturing date. The lifespan is 10 years without maintenance. It can be extended to 15 years. However, from the 10th year onwards, an annual self-check must be performed: If the black tip (at the top) is still hard when pressed with a finger, it is still in good condition. If it becomes soft, it means it's time to replace it.
