The perfect exhaust rubber for racing An extremely stable rubber compound also holds heavy exhaust systems. In the case of a melting or torn rubber, a chain (similar to a bicycle chain) sits in the core. This is the emergency hook, which holds the exhaust system even in an absolute emergency and gives the rubber itself stability.
