Why are Pipercross air filters oil free?
and can an air filter without oil even work?
Almost all well-known manufacturers of replacement filters use cotton gauze as a medium. This medium would indeed have a very limited filtering effect without oil. Pipercross has always gone the other way, working with a multi-ply polyurethane composite developed especially for Pipercross. Only this material and its processing, based on almost 30 years of development experience, make it possible to produce oil-free replacement filters of the highest quality, ensuring maximum torque as well as optimum engine protection. Why we do that is obvious:

Oil vapors can literally burn to the hot film element over time. This, as confirmed by BOSCH, can lead to incorrect readings - or even worse - to failure of the air mass meter. Pipercross air filters prevent damage and expensive repairs of this kind from the outset.
