The specified bore dimension is always that of the cylinder head gasket! I.e. the diameter of the bore of your engine block must always be 0.5 - 1.0mm smaller than the bore diameter of the cylinder head gasket!
General example: 80.00mm is the bore diameter specification of the cylinder head gasket, then the bore of the engine block must be 79.00 - 79.50mm.

Developed together with the experts of the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team, the Toyota GR Yaris boasts one of the most powerful three-cylinder engines in the world, a 1.6 Turbo capable of unleashing an impressive 261 horsepower. This engine has already proven that it can handle an impressive amount of power while keeping the original cylinder head and cylinder block. Some tuners have managed to reach power peaks of 500 to 750 hp!

The new Athena Racing Cut Ring gasket was specifically designed to meet the ever-increasing demands of tuners for performance, maximum sealing and resistance to extreme thermal and mechanical stress. The Cut Ring technology combines the advantages of having an excellent seal at high pressures of a head gasket with separate recessed rings, known as Cooper Rings, that no longer require the tuner to irreversibly modify the engine block to work on the ring seats.

Note: The rings must be mounted with the grooves facing upwards (towards the cylinder head)!

Motorsport technology now also available for the performance sector! The Athena cylinder head gaskets with separate Cut Rings are even more resistant to high combustion chamber pressures. They additionally seal the respective cylinders even better. The typical high horsepower engines problems with with lifted normal MLS (Multi-Layer-Steel) cylinder head gaskets are fixed. Cut Ring gaskets are the most suitable for turbo engines, which run at pressures exceeding 2 bar, and therefore require high mechanical and thermal resistance. Athena’s R&D department has engineered these gaskets to ensure maximum sealing even at high pressures and temperatures. The OE gaskets, multilayer steel MLS, have been replaced by a composite material consisting of a two layers aramid fiber material, reinforced by a central stainless steel layer. Stainless steel rings, machined from solid, are positioned around the cylinder bore openings of the gaskets, instead of the classic fire rings. The gasket material developed by Athena perfectly resists the stresses of high compression engines and it is treated with special anti-stick and anti-tear coatings. During installation, no modification of the head or engine block is necessary.

Cut Ring

To ensure exceptional sealing, greater than the one given by conventional fire rings, the gasket comes with stainless steel rings around each cylinder bore. Cut Rings are manufactured by machining centers with extremely tight tolerances. These rings ensure excellent mechanical strength, heat dispersion capacity and tightness in the combustion chamber. Their special cusp shape allows the gasket to fix on the cylinder head and to remain always in position, thus ensuring maximum tightness. Athena Gaskets are the best solution for all iron and aluminum engine blocks or cylinder heads.

Silicone Beading

During the modelling phase, Athena R&D technicians study and define the critical areas of the gasket where it is necessary to improve the seal around the oil and coolant passages. A silicone beading is thus applied with high-precision screen printing machines. An optimal sealing guarantees maximum running efficiency and avoids engine damages or decreased performance. A coating prevents the damage and at all times ensuring the tightness of the coolant and oil elements.

Surface Coating

The gasket is subsequently subjected to a silicone-based surface treatment to prevent any sticking to the cylinder head or the engine block, which would cause the gasket to tear and deteriorate over time, thus losing its sealing capacity.

Developed by Athena’s research laboratories, Motor Gasket sealing material is conceived and produced to guarantee the quality, the efficiency and the reliability for which Athena stands out. Available in various thicknesses and configurations, it guarantees high mechanical and thermal resistance and it adapts optimally to sealing surfaces. They are also anticorrosion and resistant to oil, fuel and to mixtures of water and antifreeze.
